Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi of Don’t Look Up has been cast as the final addition to John Woo’s action-thriller Silent Night. John Wick producers Thunder Road Films and Capstone Studios will work alongside Woo while Joel Kinnaman, Harold Torres, and Catalina Sandino Moreno will share the screen with Cudi.
Production is currently underway in Mexico City and centers around Godlock (Kinnaman), a father on a mission to avenge his young son who died in the crossfire of gang violence on Christmas Eve, he was shot and nearly killed while in pursuit of the murders. Godlock vows to avenge his son. Mescudi will play Detective Dennis Vassel.
The screenplay was written by, Robert Lynn, Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee are producing for Thunder Road, while Christian Mercuri is for Capstone, and Lori Tilkin will produce for A Better Tomorrow Films. Joe Gatta and Ruzanna Kegeyan are executive producers for the project alongside Mike Gabrawy and Will Flynn will exec for Thunder Road.
Cudi is a Grammy-winning musician, actor, and producer that has most recently been seen in A24 horror film X and Adam McKay’s Oscar-nominated comedy Don’t Look Up. He appeared in Bill & Ted Face The Music, HBO’s We Are Who We Are and the Amazon Prime documentary A Man Named Scott. He made his directorial debut on Netflix with Teddy, a comedy produced by Jaymes Samuel and Jay-Z, he will also write and star in the film. As a musician, Cudi has released seven studio albums and launched a production company, Mad Solar, last year.
