Kevin Spacey To Receive Award In Taormina But Not At The Film Festival

Kevin Spacey has been named recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award by Michel Curatolo and Marco Fallanca which is part of the Nations Award presented by Senate of the Italian Republic and the Region of Sicily in Teatro Antico in Taormina, Sicily. The Nations Award has no direct connection to the Taormina Film Festival other than location and the award Spacey is to receive is not for a particular performance but as recognition for a career-long capstone. The master of Ceremonies, Curatolo in a joint statement with Fallanca who had presented another award previously to Spacey in January of 2023 stated that “Spacey is a timeless monument in film and theater history, who unquestionably deserves the chance to get his career back.” In regard to recent cases of sexual assault, Spacey was charged with last year.

This announcement comes in the wake of Spacey’s acquitting of the nine charges in the London Case after multiple character witnesses and cross-examination by both the jury and the presiding lawyers. Fallance and Curatolo have also stated they are looking forward to the live performance that Spacey is set to give for the attendees at the ceremony. The recognition of the award and Spacey’s career proceeds Spacey’s return to the screen in his role as the Devil in “The Contract.”
