Edgy escapades and quirky wholesomeness will collide as Kevin Smith is penning a comic crossover between his own Jay and Silent Bob and the characters from the Archie universe, per The Hollywood Reporter. Set in the continuity of Smith’s View Askewniverse and taking place after the events of Clerks III, the story will follow Archie getting a summer job at the Quick Shop, the primary location of the film trilogy, and befriending the titular stoners and co-worker Randal Graves after the death of the series protagonist, Dante Hicks.

Discussing the project, Smith said,

“Archie plays a role in the healing…It’s a midlife crisis project about death and learning to deal.”

Having been a fan of the character since childhood, this is not the first time the filmmaker has included the property in some way in his projects, ranging from a discussion about Archie and Jughead in Mallrats to a character being named Veronica in the original Clerks. So it was only fitting when Archie Comics creative exec Jesse Goldwater approached Smith to collaborate.

Goldwater explains,

“Kevin’s work has always been hilarious and irreverent in the absolute best way, but also always filled with such joy and heart and always focused on the importance of love and friendship, just like Archie Comics.”

The comic will be a collaboration between Archie Comics and Smith’s Secret Stash Press, with Fernando Ruiz and Rich Koskowski doing the art, Matt Herms, doing the colors, Jack Morelli, doing the lettering, and the cover by Ruiz, Koslowski, and Rosario “Tito” Peña.

Kevin Smith Presents: Archie Meets Jay & Silent Bob will be released on July 9th, 2025.
