Kevin Hart is on a major winning streak right now, and he is riding it for all it’s worth. His most recent flick, Ride Along, set the box office record for the highest grossing domestic opening weekend in the month of January. The 34 year old comedian is sticking with the script and gearing up to make two more action comedies, both with his Ride Along director Tim Story.
It comes as no surprise, with the aforementioned success of Ride Along, that there will be a Ride Along 2. While Universal Pictures annouced their intentions to make the sequel some time ago, according to Coming Soon they recently set the release date for January 15, 2016. As with the first film, Ice Cube will star opposite Hart and produce along with Will Packer, Matt Alvarez and Larry Brezner.
According to Variety, Hart is also in talks to star alongside Jamie Foxx in the upcoming Black Phantom, the story of a mob hitman who is double-crossed and seeks the help of the Black Phantom, the same assassin who was sent to kill him. While Foxx has had many successful dramatic performances, he began his career as a comic, and with his hilarious turn in Horrible Bosses it will not be hard to imagine him trading punchlines on screen with Hart. Will Packer will also produce the film along with Will Gluck.
Ride Along will be available on DVD on April 15,
