The president of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, publicized his plans on what the Marvel Cinematic Universe is to do with actors who are leaving the franchise after Avengers 4. The upcoming fourth installment of the Avengers films will mark the climactic ending of everything that the MCU has worked towards over the past 10 years. That said, no one really knows where the franchise will go from there.
As with any film that spawns sequels with beloved personalities, fans look forward to seeing the same actor faces don their characters from movie-to-movie. Now that Marvel enthusiasts have become attached to the artists who portray favored characters, it will be hard to say good-bye to actors like Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Chris Evans as Captain America. These three main heroes have each had their own individual trilogies, the four Avenger films, plus the many cameos and smaller parts in other movies from the franchise. Since each has had plenty of screen time to resolve their own narratives, it seems that there is not much else to look forward to.
In an interview with Feige, he stated that although the MCU has had a great run of 10 years with the actors involved, it is not likely that they will be able to hang for the next fifty year equivalent of the comics, according to Screen Rant. Feige went on to say that he still doesn’t have to put much thought into what the next step will be just yet because they thankfully still have Avengers 4 to work on.
Although Feige insists that he does not know what the franchise will look like after the departure of main heroes, Marvel Studios has already begun introducing a whole new band of MCU stars. Sequels to new favorites like Doctor Strange and Spider-Man have already been confirmed with others simply waiting for the word. Heroes such as Black Panther, The Wasp, and Captain Marvel along with developing storylines for Miss Marvel and Young Avengers are in talks and provide some original narratives Marvel fans can look forward to. Although nothing can replace our cherished champions, these fresh faces may help franchise fans to move on.
