Marvel’s first family is ready once again for their Hollywood treatment, but this time in the MCU. Kevin Feige himself has spoken recently as to the nature of the story that the new Fantastic Four will portray.
Before Feige’s comments, little was known about the film. A promotional image was shown off, along with announcements of casting for the main group and a select few side characters. Little was also known about the story the movie was set to tell before Feige dropped some hints on The Official Marvel Podcast.
While on it, Feige alluded to a recently-released promotional image of The Human Torch racing above the New York City skyline, but he also said it isn’t the modern New York, or even one from the ’60s, which marked the debut of the group in the comic books. Deadline reports that Feige also said that the film will be a period piece, but has not divulged on what period exactly. Feige said, as well, that Fantastic Four will begin shooting later in July, specifically the Monday after Comic-Con.
The 2025 Fantastic Four comes to the MCU from director Matt Shakman, who previously worked on the MCU project WandaVision. This marks the second time the Fantastic Four have come to theater screens, with the first in 2005, as well as its 2007 sequel, Rise Of The Silver Surfer. There was also an adaptation of the group in 2015.
