Kelsey Grammar Completely CGI In ‘The Marvels’

It is very common to have CGI characters in the Marvel Universe. More recently, however, a major character in the new The Marvels movie is completely CGI.

Kelsey Grammar, mostly known for playing Dr. Frasier in the 80’s sitcom Cheers and later playing Dr. Frasier in the spin-off ‘Frasier,’ has reprised his role in Marvel, returning as Beast. Except, he is totally CGI.

Comic Book has three theories as to why that is. One of the reasons is, that “Marvel Studios likely wanted to keep the secret of Beast’s appearance in the movie a total secret, utilizing a stand-in on set for motion capture to avoid leaks.” Another reason may be that Kelsey Grammar did not want to sit in for make-up for a short scene that would be shown post-credits. Or it may be that the actor was added very late in the process.

In The Marvels, Captain Marvel has reclaimed her identity from the Kree and has taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence. Tasked with navigating an anomalous wormhole, her cosmic abilities become intricately linked with those of Jersey City’s ardent Ms. Marvel, Kamala Khan, and Carol’s estranged niece-turned-astronaut, Captain Monica Rambeau. United in an unexpected alliance, this trio must master the art of collaboration to avert cosmic catastrophe in the epic saga, The Marvels
