Kelly Reichardt’s success continues to grow with her latest film Certain Women. Recently, the film crossed the one-million dollar mark at domestic box office and we have been patiently waiting for her to announce her next project.
In an interview with the LA Times, Reichardt revealed she’ll be adapting Undermajordomo Minor, a novel from Patrick DeWitt. If DeWitt’s name sounds familiar, another book of his, The Sisters Brothers, is being turned into a feature by Jacques Audiard, starring John C. Reilly.
As for Undermajordomo Minor, it is described as a black comedy that follows an assistant at a remote castle and includes “theft, heartbreak, mystery, and cold-blooded murder.” The film is currently in the early writing stages, but Reichardt did also reveal she may be shooting the film outside of the US. Casting details have yet to be announced, but it’s something to look forward to (it would also not be surprising to see Michelle Williams somewhere in there, a Reichardt favorite).
