Lionsgate has released the first teaser trailer for Aziz Ansari’s directorial debut, Good Fortune. The film is a comedy about an angel named Gabriel (Keanu Reeves) who wants nothing more than to be a guardian angel for a lost soul. After trying to show Arj (Aziz Ansari) that money doesn’t solve all life’s problems by swapping the bodies of Arj and his wealthy boss (Seth Rogen), Gabriel loses his wings and must work together with Arj to new purposes for their lives.

In the trailer, we see Gabriel confessing his ambitions of being a guardian angel to another angel, Martha (Sandra Oh). He than reveals himself to Arj, to which Arj complains about being granted a “budget guardian angel.” While not having much presence in the trailer, Keke Palmer (Nope, One of Them Days) is also starring in the film.

Good Fortune is Aziz Ansari’s first directed movie following the halting of production on Being Mortal. The film was meant to be his first time in the director’s chair, but production was indefinitely halted in 2021 when one of the stars of the film, Bill Murray, was accused of exhibiting inappropriate behavior towards a female crew member.

Good Fortune is being produced by Ansari’s production company, Oh Brudder, and is being distributed by Lionsgate. The film has a release window of this fall, with the rough release date being October 17 as of now.
