Disney made many announcements at the recent D23, among them were new trailers, logos, and casting announcements, and in particular, Ke Huy Quan as the newest character of Zootopia 2. Ginnifer Goodwin, the voice of rabbit cop protagonist Judy Hops, confirmed in a panel for the Zootopia 2 film that Quan will be playing Gary, a “wanted reptile” hinted at to be at the center of the next film’s big mystery.
While Gary the Snake’s plans are yet to be revealed, part of his design was shared with audiences. Showing the crowd an image of a grey-colored snake with round yellow eyes from the neck up with a delightfully mischievous grin on his face. Gary looks to be as quirky as can be.
While there was little else to be said about the upcoming animated film, speculations are brewing as to what this next animal-themed mystery could possibly be. Zootopia 2 will likely continue with themes from its predecessor, exploring metaphors and allegories for society at large. How this will tie into Quan’s character is yet to be seen as there is no trailer yet. Zootopia 2 is set to premier on Nov 26, 2025, just in time for the holidays.
