Kathryn Newton is no stranger to the horror genre. With projects like Lisa Frankenstein, Freaky, and Paranormal Activity 4 already under her belt, the actress is now gearing up to join Radio Silence’s Ready or Not sequel, Deadline reports. Newton had previously worked with the directing duo on last year’s vampire flick, Abigail, from Universal Pictures. The sequel to 2019’s Ready or Not was confirmed last October, with original star and fellow scream queen Samara Weaving officially announced to return.
The first film follows Samara Weaving as a young bride who unknowingly must participate in a hide-and-seek-inspired killing ritual as she is chased by her wealthy in-laws on the night of her wedding. The supporting cast was rounded out by Mark O’Brien, Adam Brody, Henry Czerny, and Andie MacDowell. The horror-comedy was distributed by Searchlight and put the Radio Silence directing duo Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin on the map. The team went on to direct horror “requel” Scream (2022) and its follow-up, Scream VI, with the latter seeing a cameo by Weaving. Ready or Not writers Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy are also back to pen the sequel.
Who Kathryn Newton could be playing, as well as plot details and a release date for the project is currently being kept under wraps.
