During its opening weekend, Jurassic World Rebirth grossed approximately $318 million at the worldwide box office, propelling lead actress Scarlett Johansson, who portrays Zora Bennett, into a new category of the highest-grossing actors in history.
Johansson’s gross total now sits at $14.8 billion, which takes over her Marvel co-star Samuel L. Jackson’s $14.6 billion. A good portion of Johansson’s amount is from her portrayal of the beloved Marvel character, Natasha Romanoff, as she appeared in eight films during her time with the franchise, five of those making the list for highest-grossing films of all time. Those five titles include Captain America: Civil War ($1.1 billion), Avengers: Age of Ultron ($1.4 billion), The Avengers ($1.5 billion), Avengers: Infinity War ($2 billion), and Avengers: Endgame ($2.7 billion). The other, non-Marvel, blockbuster that is in Johansson’s roster was the 2016 live adaptation of The Jungle Book, where she plays Kaa, an Indian python. The Jungle Book ended its theatrical run just short of $1 billion, approximately making $951 million worldwide. Jurassic World Rebirth is predicted to end its theatrical run around $1 billion, but Johansson might not keep this title for long, as Zoe Saldaña is following behind and might take over as the release of Avatar: Fire and Ash looms closer.
Jurassic World Rebirth, directed by Rogue One’s Gareth Edwards, is in theaters everywhere with performances from Jonathan Bailey, Mahershala Ali, and Rupert Friend.
