A third trailer for Jupiter Ascending has surfaced online. This latest trailer takes a much simpler approach than the previous version to explaining the film’s narrative, focusing more on action than plot.
The film follows Jupiter Jones (Mila Kunis), a woman in the near future who discovers she’s a descendant of the alien society who started humanity and is destined to become the queen of earth. She quickly becomes the target of an intergalactic assassination plot from Balem (Eddie Redmayne) and must follow Caine (Channing Tatum) and Stinger (Sean Bean), who will stop it nothing to protect her as she fights to assume her role.
The film was originally slated to come out Summer 2014 but was pushed back due to low awareness from audiences compared to films like Guardians of the Galaxy. The film should have more attention for its February 6 release date, which is usually devoid of action blockbusters. As of now the film is set to face-off against the fantasy adventure Seventh Son and The Spongebob Movie: Sponge Out of Water. The Wachowski name should draw the majority of audience attention, despite it being more than a decade since the last Matrix film, the directing duo’s last commercial hit. Channing Tatum’s star-presence should also add to the attention.
