Julia Roberts Set to Star and Produce ‘Fool Me Once’

Academy Award winning actress Julia Roberts spared no time hopping aboard thriller Fool Me Once. The novel, which was written by Harlan Coben, was published no more than a week ago. The story centers on former special ops pilot Maya (Roberts), who is recently home from the war and an unthinkable image captured by her nanny cam while she is at work: her 2-year-old daughter playing with Maya’s husband, Joe, who had been brutally murdered two weeks earlier. The footage begs the question: Can you believe everything you see with your own eyes, even when you desperately want to?

While Corbin has found consistent success on The New York Times best seller list, he has had less luck when it’s come to the movie adaptations of his books. As it stands, he has only had one of his books made into a movie – 2006’s Tell No One, a French film adapted by director Guillaume Canet. He also has had two other book adaptations reach “development hell,” as an American remake to Tell No One was scheduled to be directed by none other than Ben Affleck. For now Warner Bros. has no plans to move forward with the project. The other stalled picture was Six Years, which was expected to star Hugh Jackman three years ago. Paramount has yet to take the project to the next step.

While no studio is set to distribute the picture, Roberts is slated to produce the film alongside her Red Om partners Lisa Gillan and Marisa Yeres Gill. The Erin Brockovich star has a number of films scheduled to come out in the future including Jodie Foster’s Money Monster, which is set to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival this May. CAA represents both Roberts and Coben, so the partnership is far from a surprise. We will learn more about Fool Me Once once the project receives more crew and a distributor.
