Chris Cleave’s New York Times bestselling 2008 novel Little Bee, originally published as The Other Hand, is being adapted by Kathleen Robertson (Murder in the First) and will star Julia Roberts, according to Deadline. Roberts’ Red Om Films will be producing the project alongside Gil Netter.
Little Bee centers around British magazine editor Sarah O’Rourke (Roberts) and a young Nigerian named Little Bee when they meet in Nigeria and later reunite in England.
Roberts’ recent credits include starring roles in Lionsgate’s Wonder and the indie drama Ben Is Back. She is currently set to write an adaptation of Kaui Hart Hemmings’ novel The Possibilities, and produced Your Time Is Up for Lifetime.
