Garry Marshall’s next holiday romantic comedy will feature a host of Hollywood reunions. It will bring him back together with his Pretty Woman, Runaway Bride, and Valentine’s Day star Julia Roberts as well as his Raising Helen star Kate Hudson. Another on-set reunion in negotiations will be between We’re the Millers co-stars Jennifer Aniston and Jason Sudeikis, according to Deadline.
Mother’s Day will fall in line with Marshall’s previous two holiday romps Valentine’s Day and New Year’s Eve. This time around, the film will follow several interlocking stories focusing on various mothers as the titular holiday approaches.
The script was written by Lily Hollander and Anya Kochoff-Romano. The film will court studios this week for distribution and will begin production this August. New Line financed Marshall’s previous two ensemble flicks, but their interest in his latest is still unknown.
Marshall and Pretty Woman launched Roberts’ popular romantic comedy career, and she hasn’t returned to the genre since their last re-team with Valentine’s Day. It is therefore fitting that she will be headlining his latest project. Roberts will next appear in Secrets in Their Eyes with Nicole Kidman and Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave) and in Money Monster opposite George Clooney.
