American actress and model Julia Garner, known for her roles in The Americans and Ozark, seems to be in talks to star in a film about Harvey Weinstein and his questionable actions in the workplace.
The film is to be written and directed by screenwriter Kitty Green, who recently found success with her Netflix documentary Casting JonBenet, and is said to have done plenty of hours of research on records, documents, and interviews regarding the recent Weinstein accusations. Said project would follow a life in the day of one of Weinstein’s assistants, and is one of the many films that is going to be made about the scandals and alleged sexual abuse conducted by the well known producer. With the explosion of the scandal as well as the #MeToo movement, this won’t be the last we see of movies regarding abuse scandals with high power figures.
With the shocking and acclaimed documentary about what is probably the most known child murder case, Green seems like the perfect fit to tackle such a sensitive contemporary topic. Garner, with her success in Netflix’s Ozark and the mini-series Waco, has proven her ability to tackle roles including high drama and tension. Green’s upcoming film is set to start shooting next year and will be produced by Scott Macaulay, and James Schamus.
