Variety reports that Judd Apatow’s new action-comedy The Bubble centers around a film production’s bubble during a pandemic. Featuring a star-studded cast, this film is slated to debut on Netflix April 1 with Leslie Mann, hers and director Judd’s daughter Iris Apatow, Keegan-Michael Key, and Kate McKinnon joining the team. Karen Gillan and Pedro Pascal lead the cast. The Bubble takes place on the set of fictional action movie Cliff Beasts 6: The Battle for Everest: Memories of a Requiem in London 2020. Due to a pandemic, production is quickly halted, leaving the team sequestered in a hotel. Mann and David Duchovny also star and play a divorced acting couple forced to quarantine together. Netflix released a promotional trailer for Cliff Beasts 6 to drum up excitement for The Bubble. The Netflix comedy is reportedly based on the production of Jurassic World: Dominion, where production was halted numerous times and the cast had to stay in the United Kingdom for months.
The Bubble is Apatow’s first work to debut on Netflix. All of his previous films, including The 40-Year-Old Virgin and The King of Staten Island, were distributed by Universal Pictures. Apatow also produced and co-wrote the screenplay with Lady Dynamite creator Pam Brady. Watch the full trailer below.
