The ever prolific Judd Apatow has found his next directing assignment. Apatow will helm the Amy Schumer comedy Train Wreck. Comedian Schumer, star of the Comedy Central show Inside Amy Schumer, not only headlines but also wrote the screenplay for the film. When it first surfaced it appeared that Apatow would only serve as the films producer.This marks Apatow’s fifth feature film assignment following last years This is 40 which starred Leslie Mann and Paul Rudd. He made his feature film debut with 2005’s The 40-Year-Old Virgin which catapulted Apatow and star Steve Carell into the sphere of super-stardom. Through he canon of film and television projects, Apatow had made household names out of the likes of Seth Rogen, James Franco, Jason Segal, Jonah Hill, Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy and Lena Dunham. Perhaps Schumer will be added to the list once all is done with. As a producer, he’s been ever busy – his upcoming credits include the long-awaited sequel to Anchorman due next month and the Toronto Film Festival sensation Can a Song Save Your Life? starring Keira Knightley and Mark Ruffalo, which will be distributed by the Weinstein Company some time next year.
The plot details of Train Wreck, to be distributed by Universal Pictures, are still tightly sealed, however we will report any new developments to the project.
