Famed horror studio Blumhouse is starting to fill out its cast for its upcoming video game adaption of Five Nights at Freddy’s. Deadline reports that Josh Hutcherson and Matthew Lillard have been cast in the film, but no details have been given about who they will be playing.
Hutcherson is best known for portraying Peeta in The Hunger Games series and John Futterman in Hulu’s Future Man. Hutcherson has also recently dabbled into voice acting, voicing Shinjiro in the Ultraman reboot. Additionally, Hutcherson’s production company Turkeyfoot Productions has partnered with Indigenous Media and Condé Nast Entertainment in developing “The Big Script”, a project aimed at developing millennial filmmakers.
Lillard has had a storied career, with appearances in SLC Punk, the original Scream, with his most recent outing being in Good Girls opposite Retta, Mae Whitman, and Christina Hendricks. The actor also voices Shaggy for the Scooby-Doo franchise but did not appear in Scoob! or its sequel film, which was canceled after production was completed.
Blumhouse, known for horror classics Paranormal Activity, Halloween, The Purge, and Get Out, is currently in talks to merge with James Wan’s studio Atomic Monster, which has produced The Conjuring series, I Know What You Did Last Summer and the recently released M3gan.
Five Nights at Freddie’s is set to begin production in New Orleans in February 2023.
