Three years after the film was officially announced to be in production, one of Frozen 3‘s main stars has shared an update. Josh Gad, the voice of Olaf, has taken to Instagram to reveal he has begun recording his voiceover for the film.
In an Instagram post, Gad posted a photo of himself next to the film’s directors: Jennifer Lee (who previously co-directed the first two Frozen movies), and Trent Correy, as well as producer Christina Chan. The photo shows all three of them making a three with their hands, while Gad holds a plush Olaf. “3rd time is always the charm”, begins the post’s caption, followed by a snowman emoji. “Time to build another snowman.”
While this isn’t an official confirmation from Disney about how far the film is in production, Gad’s photo showing he’s now involved suggests voice recording has begun for the 3rd installment. This shows that the production team is making good use of the year-long delay from 2026 to 2027.
Frozen 3 is currently slated to release in theaters on November 24, 2027. In addition to Gad, both Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel are set to return for this third film. Details about the film’s story are currently unknown.
