Josh Brolin (The Goonies, No Country for Old Men) announced that a third film for the Sicario franchise is in the works. The first film titled Sicario released on September 17, 2025. The film starred Brolin as Matt, Benicio Del Toro (One Battle After Another, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas) as Alejandro Gillick, Emily Blunt (The Devil Wears Prada, A Quiet Place) as Kate Macer, Jeffrey Donovan (Wrath of Man, Let Him Go) as Steve Forsing, Jon Bernthal (The Walking Dead, The Punisher) as Ted, Raoul Trujillo (Blue Beetle, Black Fox: The Price of Peace) as Rafael, Daniel Kaluuya (Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Black Panther) as Reggie, Julio Caeser Cedillo (The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada, The Black Demon) as Fausto Alarcón and others. 

The sequel Sicario: Day of the Soldado premiered on June 29, 2018. Day of the Soldado starred Brolin as Matt, Del Toro as Alejando Gillick, Donovan as Steve Forsing, Trujillo as Rafael, Isabela Merced (Dora and the Lost City of Gold, The Last of Us) as Isabel Reyes, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (A Man Called Otto, Down the Rabbit Hole) as Gallo, Catherine Keener (The 40-Year-Old Virgin, The Croods) as Cynthia Foards, Matthew Modine (Full Metal Jacket, The Dark Knight Rises) as James Ridley and others. 

The film gained $160 million globally in the box office. Denis Villeneuve (Dune: Part One, Blade Runner 2049) directs the first feature while Stefano Sollima directed the second. Both films were written by Taylor Sheridan (Hell or High Water, Those Who Wish Me Dead). The film centers around Matt Graver as he enlists Kate, an FBI Agent who helps a government task force led by Alejandro to capture Mexican cartel bosses.
