Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Seth Rogen Reteam for a New Comedy

Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Seth Rogen Set to Re-Team

Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Seth Rogen worked together in 2011 cancer comedy (no, we’re not kidding) 50/50 and the duo appear set to re-team for an upcoming comedy being developed at Sony.  Their 50/50 director Jonathan Levine (Warm Bodies, The Wackness) will direct as well as script a holiday comedy that may start filming this summer.  The film, currently known just as Untitled X-mas Comedy, will revolve around three childhood friends who reunite in New York City around the holidays.  The third leading part is as of now not yet cast.50/50, a decidedly hard sell, revolved around a young man (Gordon-Levitt) who was diagnosed with cancer.  It was a comedy.  And yet became modestly successfully and critically lauded when it came out in theaters in the early fall of 2011, turning a profit of its tiny budget.  The film even netted a Golden Globe nomination for Gordon-Levitt (in addition to one for the picture as a whole), further catapulting the former teenage sitcom star into the respected film actor whose resumé in the past few years has included eclectic films like Looper, Lincoln, The Dark Knight Rises, and (500) Days of Summer.  He is just coming off the success of his directorial debut Don Jon which opened last September to respectful reviews and decent box office.  Rogen, who will also serve as one of the producers of X-mas Comedy, was last seen on-screen in the summer hit This Is the End, which he also co-directed and co-wrote alongside longtime collaborator Evan Goldberg.  He will next star in Neighbors with Zac Efron and The Interview, which will serve as his directorial follow-up.

The upcoming comedy had a lot of interest in Hollywood circles, with Sony proving victorious in what may be a potential holiday hit.  We will follow this film as more news becomes available.
