Marvel actor Jonathan Majors will soon face assault charges against him after a New York judge denied the chance for dismissal. Because of this, his trial will be set for November 29th.
On March 25th, Majors was arrested after an alert was made to the NYPD about an alleged domestic disturbance. Former girlfriend Grace Jabbari accused Majors of allegedly slapping her, “causing substantial pain and a laceration behind her ear.” Majors has continued to deny these allegations and made a counter-complaint that Jabbari was the one who allegedly assaulted him.
According to some filings, the NYPD sent out an investigatory card in June regarding Jabbari’s role in the incident, indicating the chance of probable cause in Jabbari’s arrest. When faced with this notion, the prosecution denied wanting to pursue her case if she was arrested. This response was made by the Manhattan District Attorney in response to Majors’ attorneys requesting trial dismissal on September 12.
Even so, Majors’ attorney, Priya Chaudhry, has continued to deny the charges made against Majors. From a complaint to the DA involving allegedly hidden evidence to calling the NYPD’s capabilities into question, Chaudhry insisted that her client is the “real victim in this shameful ordeal” that ”had his life, career, and reputation torn apart.”
There is no word on how this will affect Majors’ work in Marvel, especially for the upcoming Avengers: The Kang Dynasty production.
