Jonathan Majors’ Lawyer Accuses Court Of Being A “Witch Hunt”

After Marvel star Jonathan Majors was charged with third-degree assault, his defense attorney, Priya Chaudhry, loudly claimed that the court proceedings are unfairly biased. Despite her supposed evidence seemingly proving Majors’ innocence, the actor is still set to appear in court this June.

The Manhattan District Attorney’s office made their superseding indictment public during Tuesday’s hearing, charging Majors with third-degree assault. During the virtual hearing, Judge Rachel S. Pauley gave Majors a warning about missing the next hearing on June 13, which could risk his arrest by warrant. If he is brought in by these means, “the next judge can revoke and even set bail.” Judge Pauley also reminded Majors to abide by the protection order for the woman making the allegations.

After the hearing, Chaudhry left a furious response accusing the woman involved of allegedly changing her story and the rest of the court system of seemingly ignoring the facts to suit their own agenda. Chaudhry calls the whole situation a “witch hunt…driven by baseless claims,” calling their treatment of Majors “a glaring double standard.” She claims that the evidence her team collected, including texts and video proof, should have been able to help Majors’ case, even claiming that they “did this with the explicit promise from the DA that they would not ‘fix’ their case and change it as we proved the woman is lying.”

The DA’s records state that on March 25, Majors had allegedly struck the woman with an open hand and forcefully grabbed her neck and hand. The superseding information given in the recent hearing amends this claim by removing the neck injuries and adding that Majors allegedly had forcefully grabbed the woman’s arm and put it behind her back.

No matter the results of the upcoming court dates, Majors’ career has been badly damaged by the allegations and accusations. He is still a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Kang the Conqueror, but he has lost the backing of both 360 Entertainment and the Lede Company, not to mention several ad campaigns and a film role. Majors is still backed by the WME, but he is currently under scrutiny for both this trial and other past allegations regarding inappropriate behavior.
