More often than not these days, characters (and actors) in the Marvel Cinematic Universe have had a tendency to show up in more than what was originally planned. This mega superhero world has become incredibly connected in a variety of ways, for better or worse. Captain America: Civil War saw both new and old characters coming together, and that was only the beginning of where the MCU is headed. Next year, Spider-Man: Homecoming will showcase Tom Holland’s first lead role as the newest reboot of the title character.
Not only that, Tony Stark/Iron Man will have major presence in the story. The billionaire is one of the most beloved parts of the MCU, along with the other many entertaining characters that accompany him on his adventures. One of those, last seen in Iron Man 3, was Stark’s personal driver, Happy, played by Jon Favreau. So far, none of his appearances have had a huge impact, besides being a humorous character to have on screen. But that doesn’t mean he can’t have a brighter future. And according to Variety, he’s confirmed to reprise his role in Homecoming.
It’s still not fully clear what the actual plot of the film will be, although it has brought in some interesting parts. The character of Happy will surely be a nice character to have again, particularly since Spider-Man will be in the mix of things. Holland has already proven himself in Civil War, so it’s probably fair to say that his stellar performance as the web-slinger will continue for future installments.
Spider-Man: Homecoming opens in U.S. theaters on July 7, 2017.
