Lady Gaga recently made a post confirming her newest role in ‘Joker 2′ by posting a musical teaser to raise anticipation. The second Joker film officially titled Joker: Folie a Deux will have Joaquin Phoenix returning as Joker, the crown prince of crime. Phoenix took home best actor at the Oscars for his performance in the highly anticipated Joker film. Variety reported in June the possibility of Gaga taking on the role of Harley Quinn in the upcoming sequel that announces to be a musical.
The film’s director Todd Phillips made posted on Instagram on June 7, to reveal the subtitle, “Folie a Deux” referring to delusional disorder. Harley Quinn is the love interest of the Joker dating back to the 90s animation of Batman: The Animated Series where she played the gullible sidekick. Note that the teaser doesn’t confirm whether Lady Gaga will be playing the role of Harley Quinn in the upcoming sequel.
Phillips’s original ‘Joker’ back in 2019 generated a gross of over a billion worldwide making the film the highest-grossing R-rated movie in box office history. The film received the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival and went on to win 11 Academy Awards.
Warner Bros will release Joker: Folie a Deux on Oct. 4, 2024
