Johnny Depp In Hot Water Again

Johnny Depp allegedly had an angry outburst with co-star Lola Glaudini, while filming Blow in 2001. Now, after a podcast clip about the alleged verbal assault resurfaced, a rep of Depp’s has responded. In the Powerful Truth Angels podcast, Glaudini recounted the event, saying that she was told by director Ted Demme to burst out laughing after Depp said a specific line.

According to The Hollywood Reporter Glaudini stated, “I hear the cue, and I go hahaha, I do a big laugh or whatever…Johnny Depp, when they say cut, walks over to me, comes up to me, sticks his finger in my face — and I’m in a bikini on the ground like this — and he comes over and he goes, ‘Who the fuck do you think you are? Who the fuck do you think you are? Shut the fuck up. I’m out here, and I’m trying to fucking say my lines and you’re fucking pulling focus. You fucking idiot. Who the fuck do you think… Oh, now, oh now it’s not so funny? Now you can shut up? Now you can fucking shut the fuck up? Oh it’s not funny now? The quiet that you are right now, that’s how you fucking stay.’”

Depp’s rep stated, “Johnny always prioritizes good working relationships with cast and crew and this recounting differs greatly from the recollection of other members on set at the time.”

Depp has faced much controversy throughout his career. He was accused and believed to be guilty of abuse against his former wife Amber Heard in a UK trial. Of course, many believe Depp was actually the victim of abuse, but that is always up for debate. He did win against Heard in defamation trial after the UK trial, but in hindsight that trial may have made both Depp and Heard look worse than they already did. Notably, some text messages between Depp and Paul Bettany were released that paint Depp in a horrible light, I will not be repeating those texts for obvious reasons but you can access them here.

He is also a “method actor”, this is the excuse he allegedly used when apologizing to Glaudini. THR reports “Later that day, the actress claimed Depp called her over to his trailer and gave her “a non-apology apology,” telling her, “‘You know, so earlier I was really in my head and staying in my character, I’m doing this Boston accent, and it’s really fucking with me. So, you know, I’m a little tense and stuff. So I just wanted to make sure we’re cool and everything?’”

Given Depp’s past behavior it is slightly hard to believe that he is the lovable, nostalgic actor his publicists make him out to be. It should also be noted that Hollywood itself is not the most welcoming or safe place for women in general. Therefore, Glaudini’s allegations should be taken seriously in order for the industry to become a more inclusive space for people of all genders.
