John Carpenter Claims that ‘Halloween’ Franchise Will Continue After ‘Halloween Ends’

After the success of 2018’s Halloween reboot, two more films for the iconic horror franchise have been planned. The next two movies will be known as Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends, set to release in 2020 and 2021 respectively and continue where the last Halloween film left off. With a title like Halloween Ends, many would expect that it would be the very last film but, much like Michael Myers himself, this franchise is not so easy to kill.

According to Indiewire, director John Carpenter exclaimed to fans at panel during Philadelphia’s Keystone Comic Con that the series would not be ending anytime soon. Carpenter expanded on the topic by saying, “As long as there’s money in this, I wouldn’t count on an ending.” This statement does seem fitting because of how many times Halloween has been rebooted, both with films liked Halloween H20 and the Rob Zombie remake. So it will only be a matter of time before Michael Myers ultimately return.

David Gordon Green, who directed the 2018 film, did previously state in an interview that Halloween Ends will be the conclusion of this story of Laurie Strode and Michael Myers that began with Halloween (2018). Green even stated himself that “this (Halloween Ends) will be my last one.” However, even though this particular revival will have an ending, the legend of Michael Myers will be eventually revived later down the line.

Ryan Pineda: When it comes to film, animation, video games and other mediums, I can discuss for hours about how much on why certain films and animated media made me the person I am today. I adore the artistic merit that comes from a lot of pop-culture media and will definitely love to have a conversation about favorite movies any day! I have graduated in 2017 with a BA in Film and Television at the University of Arizona. Been passionate about writing about films due to always having an interesting outlook on the medium. Will always see a film and will definitely be sure to recommend it to someone that I know for a fact would love that movie. Not only that but will also give reasons for why I think that film did or did not work as a movie, and the same can go for other pieces of media like television, video games and especially animated projects.
