While not officially confirmed, the film looks to be screening on the second day of Cannes this year. No formal announcements have come through including what film may open the prestigious film festival this year. Festival director Thierry Fremaux are, reportedly, still determining the make-up of what the 2016 film festival may look like however with Money Monster screening, there is at least one major Hollywood film set to take center stage- the film would mark the first time a film featuring Julia Roberts would screen at Cannes.
The previous film that Foster directed was the 2011 dramedy The Beaver, which she co-starred in opposite Mel Gibson (and a just-beginning-to-breakthrough Jennifer Lawrence); that film bowed at Cannes as well. Money Monster will arrive in theaters on May 13th. The 2016 Cannes Film Festival run this year from May 11th-22nd.
We will stay tuned to the future news revolving around Cannes.
