Jodie Comer and Harry Melling are set to star in Stuffed, a film that is a blend of horror, romance, and musical, Deadline reports. Co-written by Theo Rhys and Joss Holden-Rea and directed by Rhys, Stuffed is based on the director’s short film of the same name, which won the Midnight Jury and Audience Awards at SXSW in 2021 and was nominated for a BAFTA the following year. The story follows a taxidermist who aspires to eventually stuff a human specimen, but when a lonely man who fears being forgotten volunteers, the pair start to fall in love.

Now, Jodie Comer, who won an Emmy for Killing Eve and recently appeared in zombie flick 28 Years Later, and Harry Melling, who appeared in the Harry Potter film series and recently starred in Pillion at Cannes, have signed on to lead the cast.

Behind the scenes, Holden-Rea will compose the music, Wyatt Garfield will serve as cinematographer, Chris Dickens as editor, Beck Rainford as production designer, Holly Rebecca as costume designer, Kat Morgan as hair and make-up designer, Paul Paragon as production sound mixer, and Kahleen Crawford as casting director. Developed by the British Film Institute, Stuffed is produced by Sam Ritzenberg, Dimitra Tsingou, Myles Payne, and Hayley Williams of Agile Films, Danny Roberts, Jackie Langelier, and H.S. Naji of Fresh Fish Films, and Adam Knopf.

Langelier, Naji, and Roberts discussed their excitement for the film, saying:

We’re thrilled to partner with Theo on his debut feature, Stuffed, which is a musical that is equal parts twisted and audacious. As we start production on our third feature, we are so lucky to be collaborating with filmmakers and producers who share a passion for bold, original storytelling.

Stuffed is set to begin production in South Wales on September 15th.
