Jim Carrey and Keanu Reeves Join Ana Lily Amirpour’s ‘The Bad Batch’

Following last year’s acclaimed A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night, writer-director Ana Lily Amirpour is adding some big names to her next project, a “cannibal love story” called The Bad Batch. According to TheWrap, Jim Carrey and Keanu Reeves have just signed on to the film, which tells the story of Miami Man (Jason Momoa) and his community of cannibals in a post-apocalyptic Texas wasteland. Suki Waterhouse (Love, Rosie) and Diego Luna (The Book of Life) will also be joining the cast.

With A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night, billed as an “Iranian vampire western,” Amirpour announced herself as a gifted innovator of the horror genre, and the highly original premise and A-list cast of The Bad Batch suggest that her reputation will only continue to grow. The film will also be continuing a comeback of sorts for Carrey and Reeves, who both revisited former roles and identities in 2014: Carrey as Lloyd Christmas in Dumb and Dumber To and Reeves as the titular character in John Wick, which proved that he still has the action hero credentials made famous in the Matrix series.

Annapurna Pictures will be producing The Bad Batch in partnership with VICE and plans to sell it at the Cannes Film Festival.
