Jessica Chastain (Zero Dark Thirty) is set to star in the upcoming political thriller Miss Sloane. The actress will portray a successful lobbyist willing to sacrifice everything to aid in passing stricter gun control legislation.
The film was picked up by EuropaCorp in partnership with FilmNation at the Toronto International Film Festival for a reported $17 million. Academy Award nominee John Madden (Shakespeare in Love) is attached to direct from a script by Jonathan Perera. The film begins production in March 2016.
Announcing the acquisition, EuropaCorp CEO Christopher Lambert said:
The film’s subject matter of gun control is an incredibly important issue in today’s world. John Madden and Jessica Chastain bring with them such a high level of artistry, making Miss Sloane a perfect addition to the EuropaCorp slate.
Two time Oscar nominee Chastain’s involvement is no surprise as she has been at the forefront of hot button issues in the past (i.e. Hollywood’s lack of diversity). She can next be seen in the space adventure The Martian, opening October 2, and the gothic horror drama Crimson Peak, debuting October 16.
