Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam indicated that at the time of the accident, Renner was helping a family member who became stuck on an unplowed road near Renner’s residence. Renner used his PistenBully snowcat to pull the vehicle to safety and left the car to talk with his family member. Unfortunately, the PistenBully rolled forward and crushed Renner, causing massive injuries. Renner was airlifted to a hospital due to the private roads near his home not being plowed by the county and littered with abandoned vehicles caught in the snow.
Renner’s Avengers co-star Chris Hemsworth shared his well wishes with Renner, stating, “Speedy recovery buddy. Sending love your way!” Another of Renner’s Avengers co-stars, Chris Evens shared Hemsworth’s sentiments: “Tough as nails. Love you buddy.” Deadline details a long list of entertainers sending their love to Renner.
