Jeremy Allen White Opens Up About His Diet For A24’s ‘The Iron Claw’

Jeremy Allen White, known for his roles in Shameless and The Bear, which is getting renewed for a second season on FX, is taking on the part of Kerry Von Erich in the upcoming A24 film, The Iron Claw. The director of The Iron Claw is Sean Durkin, who won the Dramatic Directing Award at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival for Martha Marcy May Marlene, as he tells a new story in The Iron Claw of the real-life wrestler Kerry Von Erich and the rest of his family dynasty of professional wrestlers.

White opened up to Hollywood Reporter as he talked about his diet and taking on the Kerry Von Erich role. White revealed that he was continuously eating calories to bulk up to keep the image for his position. White expressed, “In the morning, I would have waffles, almond butter. In the middle of the day, I was eating turkey patties and avocado all the time. It’s just gross.” White continues to explain how he feels about dieting.

You’re trying to consume as much as you possibly can, and to be honest you don’t feel great. I was traning as well, but I don’t know, trying to get that big, it’s no way to live.

White will work alongside Zac Efron, Harris Dickson, Lily James, and Holt McCallany as they bring the story to life on screen. White talked about his co-star Zac Efron and how he was taking on his diet as Efron plays the role of Kevin Von Erich, the brother of Kerry Von Erich. White explained, “Zac’s a manic, he’s so focused and knowledgeable on training, diet all that.”

The Iron Claw is set to release in 2023.
