With The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 still topping the box office after its November 21 release, star Jennifer Lawrence will soon find herself on Billboard’s Top 40 chart with her rendition of “The Hanging Tree.” Originally written by Suzanne Collins for her Hunger Games trilogy, the song has been downloaded about 150,000 times for this past weekend. The song, telling the story of a tree that’s used for hangings in District 12, is performed by Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen in the movie and serves as a rallying cry for the rebels of the districts.
