The Hunger Games director Francis Lawrence (Catching Fire-Mockingjay Part 2) is set to re-team with Jennifer Lawrence for The Dive, a biopic about the legendary free-divers Francisco, “Pipin” Ferraras and wife Audrey Mestre, reports The Wrap. Dana Stevens (City of Angels) has penned the most recent script for the Twentieth Century Fox production. James Cameron (Titanic) is producing the film.
Mestre, who Lawrence will portray, died while attempting to beat her own world diving record of 557.5 feet– an enterprise later completed by husband Ferraras, and filmed by Cameron, as a tribute to his late wife.
Before filming begins on the project, Lawrence will be finishing up two franchise films: The Hunger Games: Mockingjay- Part 2, the series’ final installment, as well as X-Men: Apocalypse. Continuing to work with familiar faces, Lawrence is currently acting in Joy, her third film with director David O. Russell, and fourth with actor Bradley Cooper.
Lawrence is also adapting the Chuck Palahniuk novel Survivor, and will soon begin work with former I Am Legend collaborator Will Smith on The City that Sailed.
