Miss Piggy is getting her first film. Academy Award winners Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Stone, and Tony winner Cole Escola are joining together to develop a Miss Piggy project.

The film is in early development at Disney, which owns the rights to the Muppets, according to sources within Variety. The iconic diva was created in the ’70s by Bonnie Erickson and Frank Oz. Lawrence and Stone will serve as producers with Escola. The Oh, Mary! Tony winner is also set to write the screenplay.

On the Las Culturistas podcast, hosted by Bowen Yang and Matt Rodgers, Lawrence shared the news, “I don’t know if I can announce this but I am just going to … Emma Stone and I are producing a Miss Piggy movie and Cole is writing it.” When the co-hosts questioned whether Lawrence and Stone would co-star in the film, Lawrence replied, “I think so. We have to… It’s fucked up [that we haven’t done a movie together].”

Lawrence also shared that she considered heading to Broadway, and wanted to play Oh, Mary‘s title character, Mary Todd Lincoln. The comedy musical play is set in the days before President Lincoln’s assassination and imagines the former first lady as a wannabe cabaret star. Lawrence ultimately changed her mind after considering the eight-shows-a-week lifestyle.

“I don’t think I would be good at [theater]… it’s all your body and voice,” Lawrence shared. She continued, “The only time I wanted to do theater was I wanted to do Oh, Mary! They were like, ‘It’s eight shows a week and six weeks of rehearsal.’ I was like, ‘Do you have daycare there?’ It just wouldn’t have worked.”

Lawrence is currently promoting her psychological drama Die My Love, where she co-stars with Robert Pattinson.
