Jason Bateman In Early Talks To Direct Netflix Heist Film ‘Here Comes The Flood’

After recently earning his third consecutive Emmy nomination, actor Jason Bateman might be ready to conduct heist. This may be his next project at Netflix after Ozark finishes shooting its final season. Bateman is reportedly in early negotiations to direct this upcoming heist pic for Netflix called Here Comes The Floodwritten by X-Men franchise scribe and producer Simon Kinberg.

Netflix beat out other studios for this pic during the auction last spring. The streaming service eventually finalized a seven-figure deal and made the project its top priority, with Bateman winning the directorial offer.

Not much is known about the script, other than what Deadline reported: an elevated, character-driven love-story heist movie, with the heist playing out in increment. Roles for the movie have not been casted yet, though that will be the next step in the process.

Kinberg and Audrey Chon, president of Genre Films, are producing. If the deal closes, Bateman is also expected to join as a producer along with his partner Michael Costigan through their Aggregate Films banner.

This will mark Bateman’s third feature film as a director and his second feature with Netflix. His previous works as a director include Bad Words and The Family Fang. He has since been bringing out stories into the television realm, helming several episodes of Ozark, for which he earned Emmy nominations and won last year, and his HBO show The Outsider. He is also producing the adaptation of The Girls I’ve Been which stars Millie Bobby Brown. Most recently, on Tuesday, he was also awarded a pair of Emmy nominations on Tuesday, for Outstanding Actor in Ozark and Outstanding Guest Actor in The Outsider.
