According to The Hollywood Reporter, Oscar-nominee Janet McTeer (Tumbleweeds, Albert Nobbs) is the latest to join the horror comedy The Menu, starring Anya Taylor-Joy and Ralph Fiennes. The film will be distributed by Searchlight Pictures, and will reunite several members of the HBO show Succession.
McTeer is joining a cast that features names like Nicholas Hoult, John Leguizamo, and Hong Chau. Hoult and Taylor-Joy play a young couple traveling to one of the world’s most exclusive destinations to dine at a restaurant that offers a unique culinary experience. However, the chef (Fiennes) has a secret ingredient that will have surprising results for the two lovers. McTeer will play a food critic.
Succession alumn Mark Mylod will direct, from a script penned by Succession writer Will Tracey, along with Seth Reiss from Late Night with Seth Meyers. Adam McKay is among the list of producers attached to the project.
McTeer could be seen recently in Netflix original series Ozark, playing attorney Helen Pierce, who represents the Navarro drug cartel. She has also appeared in films like Me Before You and provided narration for Disney’s Maleficent.
Some of her stage credits include Christopher Hampton’s Les Liaisons Dangereuses, Phyllida Lloyd Mary Stuart and A Doll’s House, for which she won a Tony Award in 1997.
