Fifty Shades of Grey star Jamie Dornan will be joining fellow Irish actor Cillian Murphy (28 Days Later) in the WWII film Anthropoid, reports Screen Daily. Directed by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Sean Ellis (Cashback), the plot will follow the true story of two Czechoslovakian soldiers who attempted to assassinate Nazi SS official Reinhard Heydrich under the operation code name ‘Anthropoid.’ The mission seemed at first to be a failure until Heydrich – also known as “The Butcher of Prague” – died from his injuries some days later.
According to Ellis, who co-wrote the script with novelist Anthony Frewin,
I find it immensely humbling to explore the bravery of the men and women of the Czech resistance who sacrificed themselves for the freedom of their country while dealing a blow into the heart of Nazi Germany. In the Czech Republic, it is a story of great national pride and it’s time to tell the world that story.
Dornan seems to already be distancing himself from his erotic star-making role in Fifty Shades. Besides Anthropoid, Dornan will also be playing a soldier in the Congo-based war story Jadotville, starring in a thriller titled The 9th Life of Louis Drax, and continuing his work on the BBC television series The Fall.
