James Mangold to Direct Boba Fett Movie

James Mangold – the writer-director behind Logan, the Johnny Cash biopic Walk the Line, and the Western 3:10 to Yuma – will be writing and directing the Boba Fett movie for Disney. The Boba Fett movie will follow anthology films Rogue One and Solo as spinoffs from the main plotline of Star Wars.

Boba Fett’s story was elaborated on in the prequels, despite his brief presence in Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, and also in comics, video games, animated series, and other extended universe materials.

Jeremy Bulloch played Boba Fett in the initial movies. Further details, like who will be playing Boba Fett in the standalone film, have yet to be revealed.

Mangold will be directing the Ford vs. Ferrari drama for Fox this summer. Solo is in theaters now.
