The upcoming rendition of Superman, directed by James Gunn, is one of the most anticipated movies of the summer, and it will hit theaters on July 11, 2025. Following the first test screening, Gunn has proclaimed that he plans to reshoot some scenes in the upcoming months to finalize the project. David Corenswet is the latest actor to play the Man of Steel on the silver screen.
Recently, two particular reviews for Superman‘s test screening have been polarizing. One is from Jeff Sneider who was quoted during his Hot Mic podcast by saying after writing a positve review of Superman:
I got a call from my best source after that newsletter. He said, ‘Great newsletter tonight. You got one thing wrong. And that’s about Superman, which I continue to hear is ‘terrible.’
As many DC fans may find this evaluation to be disappointing, there was a different, positive report on the John Campea show. Campea, in resonse to Sneider, said this:
I will come out and say the exact opposite. I’ve heard [Superman‘s] tremendously good.
However, in the latest update, neither source is proven to have been a part of Superman’s test screening. Fans should consider both reviews to be speculative only. DC Fans will release their own opinions of Superman upon its release on July 11th.
Following the release of Superman, there will be a new DCU film released a year later titled, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.
