James Gunn Shuts Downs Rumors That Claim Daniel Radcliffe Is To Lead The New DC ‘Clayface’ Adaptation

James Gunn took to Threads yesterday to shut down rumors circulating on social media that stated Harry Potter’s Daniel Radcliffe would lead the new DC Universe feature Clayface. This film is confirmed to be in development with a script by Hush’s Mike Flanagan, and Speak No Evil director James Watkins is in talks to direct this horror-spun comic book adaptation.

Gunn wrote in his entry that while they are “closing a deal with [Watkins] to direct. Because we don’t have a director yet, we haven’t even started the casting process. Daniel is great, but we certainly haven’t talked to or considered him. So this one is 100% false.”

DC Studio’s co-chief, Peter Safran, characterized this comic book adaptation as a “body horror film.” Gunn hopes that this film will work “as a pure horror movie for somebody who doesn’t care at all about DC.” Warner Brother’s Clayface is set to release on September 11, 2026.
