James Gunn Gives Superman Update At Comic Con

James Gunn made an appearance at New York Comic Con to provide the first update on Superman (2025) in nine months, according to ScreenRant. This update comes about two months ahead of the release of the TV series Creature Commandos, the first project in the new DCU, for which Gunn serves as showrunner. Gunn appeared with the cast during the NYCC panel and shared comments on the upcoming Superman film.

Gunn praised the new Man of Steel, David Corenswet, stating, “He is going to blow people the f*ck away. He is the movie star that everyone just dreams he could possibly be. I don’t think anyone understands the depth of this guy’s talent.” He also commended the rest of the cast, noting that “Frank [Grillo]… and Rachel Brosnahan, people are going to die for her as Lois…” and highlighting Corenswet and Brosnahan as the best “physical action stars” he’s worked with.

Providing specifics on the production process, Gunn said, “It’s been a great process. The edit is getting really close to being good. The movie’s good. I feel good about it.” When asked about a potential trailer release, Gunn cautioned fans not to “get too excited… There’s no trailer, no Superman trailer. I have some stuff on my phone. I had it taken off me in case people attacked me.” As of now, there is no set date for teasers for Superman (2025).

Superman (2025) is scheduled for release in July 2025, with marketing expected to begin in the coming months.
