The man of steel is getting ready for another Hollywood treatment. As the release of Superman draws nearer, director James Gunn has taken to commenting on the current status of the film.
Superman marks a new beginning for the DC films. After the conclusion of the DCEU with Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom, Superman will garner a new continuity for DC films, coming from James Gunn and Peter Safran.
But before other films come out, Superman has to get off the ground first, resulting in many fans wondering about the status of the film. With the film roughly two months from release, some people took to asking Gunn himself on how the film is doing in production.
Screenrant notes that Threads user LeePaceBatman asked specifically how close to completion Superman is. In response, Gunn confirmed that all that’s left to do is sound mixing and some special effect work.
He continued, “it’s basically latched, but I’ll move cuts around here and there as VFX or music comes in.“
While DC’s future when it comes to film is in the hands of Gunn and Safran, both have had a hand in comic book films in the past. Safran was a producer on Aquaman and Shazam!, and also worked alongside Gunn on his 2021 feature Birds Of Prey. Outside of DC, Gunn made a huge name for himself when it comes to superheroes when he made Guardians Of The Galaxy, and would return to helm its two sequels.
Superman flies into theaters July 11th.
