James Franco to Star in X-Men Spinoff ‘Multiple Man’ for Fox

Some time ago, it was rumored that James Franco was involved in brand new X-Men spinoff at 20th Century Fox, and in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Franco confirmed that he will be producing and starring in Multiple Man, but that it is also in its early stages of development.

I don’t know how much I can say. But I will say I am producing and performing in it. It’s early stages. I think probably what I can say is, like anything, there’s a need to develop more.

Our bottom line MO is, how can we push this into new ground? A little bit, but still make it entertaining? [But] what I love about what Simon Kinberg and Fox and the X-Men people have done with Deadpool and Logan — it took a while to get there, maybe 10 years — but they are going to go hard R. And we’re going to take this superhero thing and really just push it into a new genre. So we’re working with Simon Kinberg on an X-Men property.

Intrigued by what the company did in the past years with Deadpool and Loganthe former Spider-Man actor is ready to revisit the comic book world in its newly developed R-rated realm.

Multiple Man follows Jamie Madrox, a mutant with the ability to create duplicates of himself. This character has mainly kept to the background in the X-Men canon, but has since gained in popularity after Eric Dane played the role in X-Men: The Last Stand and now that lesser known mutants are getting their time in the sun thanks to their development at 20th Century Fox.
