James Cameron Adopts Hands-on Approach During the Making of ‘Terminator: Dark Fate’

Back in February, the title for the sixth installment of the Terminator franchise was revealed along with the announcement of fan favorite, Linda Hamilton, to return as the hardened veteran, Sarah Connor. Slashfilm has now revealed a statement made by Arnold Schwarzenegger stating that James Cameron, the director of the first two Terminator films, had a very hands-on approach during the production of the newest installment.

Slashfilm states that both Cameron and the director, Tim Miller, worked together to create the story with Schwarzenegger saying Cameron was offering direction to Miller on set. Schwarzenegger states, “He does get involved in the filming, so there were interesting discussions about which direction to go with a certain scene or how the dialogue should finish or what the certain look should be of an individual and all that stuff so there was a big collaboration between Jim and Tim Miller. I feel it was in good hands with both of them.”

It’s been nearly three decades since Cameron has been this involved in the Terminator franchise and it is extremely exciting to see. Schwarzenegger also made sure to praise Miller when he stated, “The director, Tim Miller, was very, very talented and I can see why his movie, Deadpool, made so much money and why it was successful because he’s very organized. He’s an expert with visual effects and special effects and with stunts. He felt very comfortable directing all the actors, the young and the older ones. He was a pleasure to work with.”

The plot of the film is being kept under wraps but with all the current news and returning veterans, Terminator: Dark Fate could be the best Terminator film since Terminator: Judgement Day.  The film is set to release on November 1, 2019.

Keidan Chavez: I am an undergraduate attending Whittier College majoring in screen writing and journalism. I love to watch movies, play Red Dead Redemption 2 and read whenever I get the chance. I will watch anything related to Wright, Tarantino, The Coen Brothers or Nolan. I will also play anything made by Naughty Dog or Rockstar Games. I love being able to experience great stories, especially when I am able to share that experience with others. I also love learning about movies and sharing that knowledge to those that are just as passionate.
