Since Daniel Craig left the role, fans have been eagerly waiting to see who will take up the mantle of the iconic James Bond. One of the major talents that fans wanted has given a concrete answer on whether he will star, and commented on if he was ever in talks for it to begin with.
Since he first hit the silver screen in 1962’s Dr. No, the character of James Bond remains one of the most iconic characters in cinema history. With close to 30 films in the franchise, Bond himself being recast is something fans have grown quite accustomed to. He was originally played by Sean Connery, but most recently was brought to life by the aforementioned Daniel Craig, before his final outing in 2021’s No Time To Die.
Since Craig departed the mantle of 007, fans have been ravenous for any word from Amazon MGM about who will play him next. Screenrant noted that none other than Idris Elba has been a huge fan favorite to be the next Bond, alongside a select few other actors. Recently, however, Elba gave an honest answer as to whether he was ever officially in the running, or if it was just fan speculation. He simply said, according to Comic Book Resource,
I’m honestly not in the race ever. I wasn’t in the race in the first place.
