The new James Bond film, Bond 25, and Fast and Furious 9 have moved their release dates to later times in 2020, according to Variety. 007 will appear on screens April 8, 2020, instead of the film’s previous date of Feb. 14, 2020, while the Fast and Furious film will now open on May 22, 2020 instead of its earlier release on April 10, 2020.
These changes for both of the films appear to be related to one another. Because they are both distributed by Universal, it would be best to arrange their major releases not too close to one another. The consequences of this change in date also mean something more significant for the Fast and Furious film. The new date clashes with the release of a major movie from Warner Brothers: Godzilla vs. Kong.
Fast and Furious 9 will be directed by Justin Lin who directed Fast and Furious 6 in 2013. The 2020 film will follow up the franchise’s spinoff Hobbs & Shaw, starring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham.
The James Bond film will be directed Cary Fukunaga and begins shooting on March 4. The film will still feature Daniel Craig in the leading role for the fifth time in the franchise, however this is anticipated to be his last time playing the famed spy.
